Pre-service Training
After individuals join Teach
for Georgia, the focus is driven towards training the corps members to be
highly successful teachers. The pre-service summer programming consists of an
intensive training institute that focuses on developing in corp-members a theoretical
understanding of the frameworks of teaching and ensures corps
members have a foundation of core knowledge in instructional planning and
delivery, classroom management and culture, content and pedagogy, learning
theory and other areas.
Ongoing Support
All new teachers face intense
challenges once they begin teaching. Therefore, it's crucial to support them
throughout the their commitment. Corps members receive toolkits that include
sample assessments, standards and teaching resources; meet periodically in
teams to discuss novelties in the field; attend various meetings and trainings
for resource exchange and knowledge sharing.
The studies demonstrate that
corps members have a significantly positive effect on the academic achievement
of their students, school environment and community. |
