Program "Pestalozzi" Activities in Georgia Print E-mail

Simultaneously with inclusion of Georgian pedagogues in European seminars and workshops, TPDC is actively organizing Georgia-based workshops within the Pestalozzi program through close cooperation with the Council of Europe. Two workshops had been held in years 2008 and 2009. Workshop on Code of Ethics for Georgian Teachers was organized in November, 2008. The goal of the workshop was to share the experience and difficulties regarding implementation of professional ethics for teachers; emphasize key positive attributes of professional conduct that characterize effective teaching and get acquainted with the regulatory procedures of Ethics Code in European countries.

Another workshop was dedicated to the Mentoring of New Teachers: Innovations and Approaches (held in July, 2009). Besides Georgian teachers and education experts, representatives from Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Malta and Italy have participated. The seminar had high relevance in two ways: firstly, the coordinating group of the teacher probation pilot project was given an opportunity to share their experience to the participants of the seminar; secondly, with the active participation of Georgian and international education experts, future directions and steps of the probation project had been developed.

In addition, TPDC organized Pestalozzi workshop in fall, 2010. The workshop focused on the issues of Continuous Teacher Development and links to Career Advancement.
