Journal "The Teacher" Print E-mail

“The teacher” journal was created for the purpose of supporting teachers’ professional growth, raising their awareness on important issues, sharing experience, popularization of teaching profession. The journal was first published in 2008. In 2009 the design of the journal has been renewed; it is also published more frequently now and teachers receive the new issues in every two months.

Today the school has a challenging mission. We believe, that the challenges with the civil awareness, political culture, level of tolerance, adolescent crime and drug use need to be tackled by teachers, schools. We also think that the teacher’s status should be adequate to the demands that the society sets for them. Through awareness raising and professional discussions, we would like to contribute to the achievement this mission by teachers.

The journal was used to announce several competitions among teachers. The competition implies solicitation of teaching materials on different topics from teachers (raising ecological awareness, managing difficult children, making the lesson interesting, internet: useful resource for teachers).

“The Teacher” journal is distributed to all school once in two months for free. The journal is available in press sales points. Also, journal subscribers can receive the journal in any region of Georgia. Teachers should collaborate with “The Teacher” journal as their participation and sharing of opinions is vital for determining the right directions.

In 2010 an important phase is starting for teachers. They will have to respond to modern challenges and prepare for the process of certification. “The Teacher” journal attempts to provide useful resources to teachers to support preparation process for certification.

The journal strives to assist schools and teachers alike in making improvement steps. We try not to leave important issues beyond our attention. Today, the educators have much to discuss about the values and methods of learning and teaching, which we strive to establish. This process will certainly not be fruitful without considering teachers’ opinion. Success in the education system requires our participation aside from state support. To increase teacher participation we installed “The Teacher” journal post boxes in all schools. The teachers are encouraged to participate in the competitions and contribute by relevant resources and materials.
